Architecture

Art Studio

Old, meet new. This abandoned building has been transformed into a modern art studio, eliciting conversations from whomever may come near.
Once a dilapidated two story brick building symbolizing local music and creativity, the new design now marries form and function with the locals’ fond memories still in full tact.

CaixaForum centre

The CaixaForum arts centre incorporates walls from a power station that previously occupied the site. It includes galleries, administrative offices and a restaurant in the upper levels, as well as an auditorium below ground level.
The only material of the old power station that we could use was the classified brick shell. In order to conceive and insert the new architectural components of the CaixaForum Project, we began with a surgical operation, separating and removing the base and the parts of the building no longer needed. This opened a completely novel and spectacular perspective that simultaneously solved a number of problems posed by the site.

Farmhouse residence

The wall previously belonged to a crumbling farmhouse and the remains of the old building are integrated into the structure of the new two-storey residence. We employed traditional stonemasons to rebuild the wall without mortar and recreate its original appearance.
Other existing walls are re-clad with wooden shingles, which were pre-weathered to give them a silvery colour.

Residence 0

We have refurbished a building with an L-shaped floor plan by adding the missing corner.
The new extension of the two-storey building incorporates a glazed section spanning from the ground to the roof.
Called Residence O, the project also involved replacing the existing overhanging roof with one that sits flush with the edges of exterior walls and a complete redesign of the interior.
The building we were called to refurbish was built in the 70's as imitation of vernacular architecture of the Veneto countryside area in Italy.

The hundred year old flat

Wall coverings have been peeled away to reveal a vaulted stone ceiling that's several hundred years old inside this refurbished apartment.

We removed walls between the sandstone brick columns to create an open plan living and dining room surrounded by arches.
An exterior wall was replaced by a thinly framed glass arch that now links the living room to a balcony.

We installed Corian shelving and surfaces to rooms, as well as a stainless steel kitchen.
A transparent glass cylinder surrounds a shower in the bedroom.
Framed glass doors provide access from this bedroom to a second outdoor terrace.

20 social housing in Paris

The project focuses on rue Godefroy Cavaignac demand rehabilitation of a building in substandard housing. Held by the strict criteria of the command, the approach of the agency is to renew the image of the building in the street and meet the certification requirements "heritage home environment." The project relies heavily on the extension of the building's contemporary reinvention bow window inserted in the extension of the unfinished facade dating from the nineteenth century. Working on the alternation of full and empty volumes can cut through overcome a monotonous visual alignment on the street and offer fresh perspectives towards the street Charonne.
